A: Hi, are you Ms. Johnson?
B: Yes I am. What can I do for you?
A: I just wanted to introduce myself before class got started. I’m Amanda.
B: Right, you’re my new student. Well welcome, Amanda. It’s nice to meet you.
A: It’s very nice to meet you too, Ms. Johnson.
B: So where are you coming to us from?
A: My family just moved here from Vancouver. My mom’s job brought us here.
B: And what does your mother do?
A: She’s a Zookeeper and Wildlife Educator. She’s spent the past fifteen years working with an elephant named Gracie.
B: So how come she transferred here, if you don’t mind me asking?
A: Not at all. Recently, an elephant from Gracie’s herd was rescued from poachers and brought here.
B: I read that story in the news!
A: Exactly. In order to help rehabilitate this elephant, the zoo made a deal with the zoo in Vancouver to loan them Gracie for a couple of years to work with Rudy, that’s what they’re calling him.
B: That sounds fascinating. We’re actually about to start a month-long lesson on animals today. Do you think your mother might have time to come in and talk to the class about her work?
A: I can ask. She’s very busy, but she does love to educate people about animals.
B: Thank you! If she can, that’d be a wonderful treat for the class. I’m glad you came here, Amanda. I hope you will like it here.
A: Thank you, Ms. Johnson. I’m excited and a little nervous to meet the rest of the class.
B: There’s no need to be nervous, I think they will like you very much. You’ll do well here.
A: Well, there’s the bell. I guess I should find a seat.
B: Here, take this desk over here.
